Mark Scott is the founder and owner of Woodsmiths of London. After leaving a lively and successful hospitality business in Belgium, Mark returned to England to train as a cabinet maker at the highly regarded Bucks New University in High Wycombe. He trained for 4 years gaining an HND in Applied Furniture Studies as well as a BA in Contemporary Furniture and Product Design. Mark has also received awards from the British Contract Furnishing Association (BCFA), the National Council for Graduate Entrepreneurship (NCGE), the New Designers 04 and 06 exhibitions, a group award from Icon Magazine. Mark has exhibited work in London, Milan and Dubai and been featured in several industry publications.

Most recently Mark has qualified for membership to the Guild of Master Craftsmen. This award is a representation of the continual high level of service and product that Woodsmiths will make every effort to maintain.

In 2009 the company will be keeping a close eye on the fresh talent that graduate from the UK Universities offering furniture design and craftsmanship degrees. This is a very tough environment to succeed in and each year many talented young designer/maker graduates fall by the wayside for various reasons.

Woodsmiths intend to reward some of those with a stepping stone into the industry by offering to manufacture small batches of their work. We will be offering a very generous percentage of each sale to the owner of the design in an effort to give them some income in the early stages of their professional life, we shall also seek to employ some fresh into our organisation.

Return to this site in August for some really beautiful and innovative furniture designs
